« on: March 30, 2007, 04:59:10 PM »

leaving in the morning for a 1783 mile ride  O0

quite naturally, id decide to leave in the middle of a bad storm, but at least its heading east and im going west...  just realized that when i hit LA i will have driven I-10 all the way from east to west as far as you can  ;D O0

gonna try to make it to tucson, az on the first day.  might stop before then or keep going for a while longer if i think i can...  then ill leave the next morning for the final push to Lemoore, Ca.  will stay there for at least 3 nights, maybe more, not sure yet.

well, cross your fingers for no mis-haps and NO TICKETS  O0

That is a long trip, wide open areas. When you get close to Az. border in New Mexico will be a truck stop on south side, Shady Grove, good place to eat. I used to make that run when driving a truck. Have a good ride and be safe. O0

Tuscon is very long way. El Paso is about half way to LA and still  a long way. Don't push it too hard.

If you spend any time around LA, go up PAC1 and take the road to Ojai. Awesome.

A lot of California is awesome. I'm envious...and planning a trip out there for the summer. Have a great time. 8)

Longest ride I ever had in one day was from Salina KS to Sturgis, 798 miles.  Talked to a Hwy Patrol at a gas station 50 miles south of Sturgis and asked if he knew where a room was since so many were taken and hi priced for the rally, I slipped and said I had been out for about 14 hours and 798 miles, there was a motel that had a room where we were talking if the guy was a no show in 15 minutes for 72 bucks, the cop looked at me and said, "I highly suggest you take the room".  I got his point, waited the 15 and took the room.

well, i made it to las cruses NM last night before i stopped.  that storm in houston really put a damper on most of the trip....  while there i was on the phone we decided to meet in phoenix, so thats where im at now waiting on her to get here...  may still be riding to cali though day after tomorrow, kinda depends on how tonight and tomorrow work out...  O0

so far, i think ive gone about 1300 miles.  did about 900 or so yesterday and then the rest today.  wasnt wearing gloves for most of the first day, so my hands and about 2 inches of wrist got so sunburned that they are swollen and you cant tell where the hand ends and wrist begins... :-\

well, im outta here, ill check back in later...

sorry it took a bit to reply, been a little busy  ;D   im in cali now.  stayed 2 nights in phoenix and then made about an 8-9 hour ride here the other day....  the hands are good now, the swelling went down yesterday.  for some reason i didnt even think to wear my gloves till toward the end of the first day when i realized just how burned they were getting.

the desert just inside the cali border is now 1 shoe richer as well...  had my regular shoes tied to a d-ring on the luggage jerry let me borrow and one of em either came untied or the string broke....  looked in my rear view mirror just in time to see it flipping down the road behind me.... :-\

the luggage was awesome btw jerry.  packed alot more into it than i ever thought i could.  and the tank bag was great for holding my mp3 player.

still not sure when ill be back.  doesnt look like ill be moving to az after all.  but i just might be flying in to houston sometime to pick up some stuff and catch a return flight back here.  never really know.....  O0
