I also have the silverstar. You might have to adjust your light if you go with the silverstar though,it seems like they have a different focal point.

oh yeah, you ask for the process,
unscrew the headlight ring, two phillips at 10 and 2 o'clock, headlight hosing will tip out. remove the 3 wire connector, lift off the rubber boot, you will see a spring wire hinged loop that holds in the bulb housing, lift out the housing, and pull out the bulb. be sure not to touch the bulb with your fingers when you put the new one in, use a tissue or lint free rag, the oil from you hands will make it burn out quicker, at least that is what ive been told. reassemble and adjust if needed. the adjustment process is given in the manual.

You're not having any problems pulling that much more wattage?

I've been riding with  80/100  watt bulb for about eleven years straight now. (not the same bulb all that time!). Never had any problems with the starter button on any of the bikes, although it seemed to shorten the battery lives. A relay would alleviate any question of starter button problems though. I never bothered. Just be sure to give the button a firm push, rather that lightly pressing the button where it arc's some instead of making solid contact. I think that is the key. I am addicted to the brighter bulb and more light. I can't go back!!!
