Need some wheel help wheel bad
« on: December 14, 2006, 11:57:37 AM »

I'm wanting to buy a custom rear wheel for my bike and need some size help.

The look I am going for is to have a chrome rear smoothie from RC and chrome my stock (1300C)  front wheel.

My questions are, what is the best size to get in a rear wheel if you want to run a 200 series tire? And what is the best tire and size to use?

I know a 200 tire will fit the 1300C with no swingarm mod needed but is there such a thing as a 210 and would it fit?

Any help is very much appreciated. Also, if anyone would like to share a picture of your bike I would love to see it.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Through the years I have been told that a 200 is the largest tire that you can go with on a stock swing arm. Things might have changed by now but I think it is. Iam putting a 200 on mine and is a pretty tight fit any larger I bet would have to alot of mods. Good luck.  8)

Try this link...Answers alot of questions and plenty of pics for a mod like this..
http://xchoppers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1544 There is a 210 but I know you would need a modified swingarm and probably a wider fender since the 200 is such a tight fit as it is..I would recommend the Metzeler 200 ...it looks wider on my bike  than the dunlop200 for some reason..maybe its the thread pattern ???

I have a 200 size Avon venom on the rear of my 1300 C and no problems at all.It looks a bit bigger than the OEM with room left over did not fel like doing the major wheel mod for the back for anything bigger if so would have just bought me a chopper outright.

putting a 200 on the stock wheel gets you the profile of about a 180. it's bent too much. if you're looking for an RC Components wheel. I'd get one in the stock 1800 size. We know that works and doesn't bend the metzeler 200 tire too much. I believe it's a 200-70/16... so you're looking for a 16 X 5.5 rear wheel. You'll also need a superhub to make it fit on your bike.
