Mescalero, NM, near RD's new place in Ruidoso. I hunted on the reservation. Plenty of room - 455,000 acres. Very tightly controlled by the tribe.
There was a great motorcycle rally going on at the time I was there. The Golden Aspen Rally. I would have liked to had the time to check it out. Lot of bikes. Excellent riding in the area. Lot of music and vendors. There is a great casino and hotel at the Inn of The Mountain Gods. Championship Golf Course at the Inn.
I want to go back and hunt but would "settle" for the Rally. Always the 3rd week of Sept. If I can knock over enough 7-11s I will be back hunting. For now, I'm just one broke redneck!!
