My new Project :)

I finally got all my stuff in today and I was able to whip out a pen. 

I selected a real nice Cherry Wood that was given to me by a friend of mine.  Cut it up and chucked it up.



drilled and ready to go



I roughed it out and got it to size with a skew.



I used a minwax finish and voila




You should be able to see this smile while I'm up here on cloud 9

My brother-in-law makes those pens, and he has developed quite a market for them.
He uses the most exotic woods he can find, beautiful.

They can be quite nice.  I do not have a lot of fancy exotic woods yet, but I have some decent stuff.  I do have a few spalted pieces but I don't want to mess them up yet  ;D

Here is my second pen that is made out of African Bubinga wood.

My father in law made those for quite a few years before someone broke into his shop and stole everything. He has been in the hardwood lumber mill business for over 60 years and always had a lot of scraps of wood laying around. Still does!!  Lol
