I need the truck to haul with, but just driving around doing the day to day stuff, I'd rather have something that get's better milage.
If you really want something for mileage, get a VW TDI diesel (Bettle or Jetta).  They average better mileage than a hybrid, will run well over 300k miles, and are cheaper than a hybrid. On top of that, you can run them on bio-diesel if you want to be environmentally conscious.
That's one I was thinking about, also. The wife of a guy I know has one, and he said she goes 2-3 weeks between fill up's.

I think I will just ride my bike. I ride rain snow sleet or shine. I have a truck that I may put 10 miles on a mo. The only time I use it is when I have to take my old ladys dad somewhere. Or pick up a bunch of wood. those cars are  a little to fancy for me.

There is that annoying "pop" sound when I get out. ;) ;D ;D ;D

They're deceiving like the Bug, and the Mini Cooper. Once you get inside, it feels like a regular size.

RD- try to find a Honda Civic VX.  They don't make them anymore, but I have a `92 with 218,000 miles on it.  No power steering, but you don't need it.  Has A/C and a 5 speed.  I got 52 MPG on a regular basis w/out runnibg the AC.  That knocks it all the way down to 47 MPG.  They were built for a few years to boost the MPG requirements.  Fun to drive too, but not as much fun as the X.

If my "old man" memory serves, I believe the very first Honda car imported and sold in the US was powered by the CB750 inline 4 motor.    Tiny car, but fun and great gas mileage.
