Record heat
« on: June 26, 2011, 05:13:37 PM »

Two days ago Amarillo set a new all time record for heat 109. That record lasted all of 48 hours, today it hit 111. Childress got up to 117. I'm going out for a ride this evening when it cools off a bit but it's just no fun when its this hot.

I took that short ride I had promised my self I was going to do just as the sun was going down. Still feels like the air is comming straight out of a oven, I'll try again in the morning.

You know, I've been complaining about March not going away. (all the wind down here.)

But maybe, just maybe, I'm not ready for summer to show up either. Not with 110 degree heat staring back when you open the door.

(But it's a dry heat up there, Tom.  :stickpoke: :stickpoke:)

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

It's been too hot to ride, so I've been umpiring fastpitch softball tournaments on weekends instead.  ???

I'm just happy at our park we have an Umpire room with a/c we can retreat to after every two games. Unless we don't have enough umps, then maybe every 3 games. Most parks don't have a room we can use. We are out in the parking lot under a tarp.  :banghead:

Wow, sorry about you'r AC Kenny. It cooled down a lot here today under 90. While I was out for a little ride this strange liquid stuff fell from the sky, just enough to make temporary drops on my windshield. There is a chance we could get some more tonight. Other than a few rare sprinkles there has been no rain at my house so far this year.
On the news tonight they were talking about power outages caused by transformers blowing up due to the heat. They had over 80 of them blow in town. If I loose power out here its hotel time, I'm getting cushy in my old age.

Better head back to the Smokies or maybe Banjo will let you bunk with him in yankee land till your ac is fixed! I grew up in your area
and we never had A/C . Don't know how we survived.

Wow. I remember the day in September, 1999 it hit 111 in San Antonio; but with the wind chill factor it only felt like 110.
