Well after some research and consideration and with my upcoming ride around Europe, I tripped the switch to GO and picked up one of these Go Pro's. I chose to go with the 720/960 HD and not the 1080 HD. Picked it up at Best Buy with the 6 month no interest deal.
I'll tell ya the store over in Sugar Land has both models and all the accessories available for mounting it. And the kid working in the camera section was ever so eager to show me his ( had it on him, the 720/960) and let me watch his video's ( on a motorcycle ) from one of the TV's in the department across the hall. This guy had all the answers to any question I had in mind from my reading and You Tube video watching.
I chose the 720 HD as opposed to the 1080 HD. besides saving $125 it seemed more likely than not that any video I shoot and want to share with friends posted on line will be smaller and run smoother uploaded at 720 than at 1080. Trying to watch the 1080 videos uploaded to You Tube just causes a lot of buffering pausing for me. I've also watched my test videos I've shot on my 26 inch and 50 inch TVs and as they are both 720P resolution, the image and color were amazingly pleasing.
Now a 1080 HD downsized to a 720 might still be a little sharper, but I'm very happy with my choice and I am looking forward to video'ng some of the Swiss, Italian, and Austrian Alpine passes I will be riding through!
