Trike Conversions - Where to Start?
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:20:36 AM »

I may be getting the trike bug for the GW.  Nothing fancy, something to get to the grocery store and back without falling over - least cost setup.

Anybody got any experience in this area?

Yep, Put on a Roadsmith kit and absolutely hated it.  Steering is extremely different, lost all sporty feel and mileage dropped 50%.  I tried it for 6 months before I got so fed up I sold the thing and started over with another VTX.  very expensive mistake.

If you want least cost route though, the Voyager kits are fairly in-expensive when it comes to an extra set of wheels and they're at least easily removable if you end up not liking it.

I have a VW trike in my back yard. I bought it as another one of my projects that I have never gotten around to doing. Post picks of yours when you get started, I could use a little inspiration.

Rode a GW with a Champion kit. Like you I hated it. Always fighting the front end as the rear wheels tend to make the bike kinda fishtail down the rode. The GW is built to rail the curves and handles like a dream. Seems a shame to negate that feature. If you want a trike, Quick , why don't we trade and you can trike my VTX 1800, they make a good trike and I'm wanting a Wing.
