Lost of MPG
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:36:03 AM »

Hey folks, lately my gas light comes on at just over 70 miles and fill up 4 gallons at just over 100 miles.  :banghead:  I normally get the gas light on around 110 to 120 miles and get a little over 140 before fill up. This started after the BBT trip and have not been riding the X much lately due to the issue at hand.   :(  Any ideas what may be going on? I don't have a heavy wrist and cruise at about 70mph on my commute from home and work which is 84 miles round trip. I fill up close to home on way to work the second day when normally I would fill up close to home after the second day of work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys, have a great week.  :c

I'd check your plugs first. It sounds like you're not getting the correct bang for your bucks. Add some Seafoam to the next 5 or 6 tanks to clear out the injectors. Check for leaking fuel near the fuel pump.

The only other thing I can think of is too much back pressure in the exhaust system but that's a long shot.

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.
