5 weeks out
« on: May 26, 2011, 11:31:15 AM »

Gonna spend five weeks out on the bike this summer.

Have any of you all got any suggestions for sites to see in Colorado (Denver - Boulder areas) , Northern Utah, Idaho (Sun Valley) , Oregon Coast, Northern California?

Gonna start towards home from Lake Tahoe. Any suggestions on the best (coolest) route back.?

Can anyone suggest the best bang for the buck for protective leathers?

Thanks

did that rout last year, but didn't have 5 weeks!

in colorado, visit pikes peek, royal gorge,  i think we spent 4 daty out of 2 weeks in colorado alone

hwy 50.... in nevada...  the loneliest hwy in America.  straight as a arrow in some parts, middle of the desert, if Nowhere needed some place to get aware from it all, this is where nowhere would go.

the Oregon coast, dont plan on making a whole lot of miles cause you will be stopping a LOT.
while in oregon, Crater lake.  In eastern oregon, hells canyon was nice.
word of warning, while in Oregon, they don't let you pump your own gas, but for bikes they will hand you the pump.

lake tahoe...  lots of fun.

Hwy 1 along the Pacific coast is breath-taking.  If you've got time, stop in Napa Valley and take a balloon ride.  Got the details if that interests you.

You're a mighty luck guy to get to take this trip.  Blog it and share with us poor schlubs chained to work.  :)

Thanks fellas. Appreciate the information.

I'm about to buy a pair of kevlar jeans for the trip. Cycle Gear sells a brand mfg by River Road. Does anyone have any experience with these particular ones...or have any pros and cons to share concerning kevlar jeans?

Thanks again.

Martin,

I bought two pair of Harley brand Kevlar jeans from the Mancuso Harley dealer on I-610 N.  They're cheaper than the Riverroads jeans, but as far as I know, they're just as good quality.  They're very comfortable, but you have to remember to let them hang dry.  Apparently, there's a problem with drying kevlar jeans in a dryer.  Sounds like a great trip you're planning.  Have fun and take lots of picks!

Thanks Mike.

General question:

Am going to be staying over with friends in Denver, Salt Lake, Sun Valley Idaho, San Fran.

I have 6 riding days to get from Sun Valley Idaho to San Francisco. Can anyone think of any good sights in this particular region.

Thanks again.
