mine has 36000, definatly from the cylinders, not exhaust, it only does it on start up, more pronounced when cold but does it sometime when warm.
That is the same as mine does! Have changed spark plugs, checked valves, checked exhaust but I think it is the gas!! Awww you know if it blows up I will just get Demon to fix it for me since he has alot of experience on work on VTX1800 engines!!  ;D ;D

I have 71,000 miles on my 05 1300 and hear some ticking.

Only had the valves checked at first service - might be time to get them checked again ??

I'd definitely check them after that many miles...just for peace of mind.  They could be too loose.

Try a little seafoam in the tank. It has been known to do wonders.
