Hey Bear,

What part of the state are you in? Stick it in your profile, you may be surprise who your vtx neighbors are. In my opinion and a couple others I know, the valve adjustment after 8,000 miles is a waste of energy. After that, break-in is over and it's called wear. It all needs to wear evenly. Please don't bring up oil! LOL!  :stickpoke: :c :bikerider: :pot:

Give me a call at 281/389-2921. If you can trailer it to New Caney next weekend (I'm on call and have to stay at the house and available) I'll help you out.

It has been so long since I have been on here due to in-service classes for my work certifications that my original profile was deleted.  I just had the 8,000 done at my dealer (long long story behind that but they owed it to me) and wanted noticed this comment on the waste of energy after 8,000.  I find it interesting but also understand it too, after going through the headache with my previous dealer I contemplated why Honda would design something that had to be adjusted every 8,000 miles.

Stay safe and ride safe as well all...

I try to get mine checked about every 12000 miles after the 1st one! I have right at 18000 on my bike and last time did it just one of the valves was out of adjustment just a very little!
By the way WELCOME  to the Tex X Rider Board!! I am just east of you about 60 miles!
B safe out there in the metro mess!!

Thanks Chad, I appreciate the response.  Thank God I don't drive the Dallas mess, Fort Worth is bad enough but is tolerable.

I like 12,000 mile check much better as you do.  Maybe by then I will have the guts to give it a try myself.

Thanks again and ride safe..

I believe the 8000 check is to primarily catch the odd valve that is too tight and loosening it before the valve burns due to exposed edges during detonation. Oh yeah, and Honda wants the service money....! ;D
