My very first motorcycle. Vtx 1300. Need help

Just bought a 2004 vtx 1300, and it has a k&n air filter and vance and hines pipes. But i think it needs carb work, and also I took a baffle out and couldn't put the wrap back on lol. Any help?? I live in clear lake, in south east Houston if anyone knows a shop that could tweak my carb a bit that'd be awesome!

Tyler, welcome to the group. I don't know of any shops down in the area, but having a service manual will do you plenty of good and save you a ton of money.

If you don't have an aftermarket air box, or de-capped the stock air box, you shouldn't have to re-jet. Dealers will tell you that if you have aftermarket pipes you need to re-jet, but they're after your $. What is your bike doing?
Here is a GOOD investment:

Straight pipes made mine backfire. From what I've heard, if you don't like that AWESOME sound, or the flames shooting out, you can re-jet with the dyno jet kit or the Factory Pro. I bought the FP, but haven't installed it yet, because I haven't put on my hypercharger yet. So I can't say whether or not it fixed it. Everyone says it helps, though.
Welcome to the group. I've got an '04 1300 c myself.

What part of Clear Lake are you in? On the 1300's, if you let them sit for a while, the gas in the carb will get all gummy. Probably needs to be cleaned more than repaired/adjusted. I'm not a carb guy, but I do own a 1300 and 1800 and have the service manuals for both if you need to borrow it. I also have a bike lift and stand.

Does the bike run? Has it set up for a while? Need a little info on what it is doing.
If you go to this link you can download the service manual to your computer, then print it out.

Check VTXOA - MRVTX has a really good step by step on carbs, worth taking a look at.

If it will run ,try some seafoam in the gas tank before you go thru all that trouble. It may clean it out. Worth a try.
