Dropped it Today
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:10:30 PM »

I was turning around on a hill.  My bars were full locked downhill, and I guess I didn't realize how steep it was, or maybe I'm just a dipsh**, but It went down on me.  I couldn't hold it up.

Snapped my clutch lever in half.

I can't get another clutch lever until Friday, and am now in the process of JB Welding it back together so that I can limp it home.

And now, it's raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock, just in time for me to pick it up.

I'm not going to complain about the rain however, but that's how my day has gone.

Yep, broken clutch lever is better than broken collar bone.  Glad you are okay.  These bikes are heavy as hell, aren't they?  ;)

hey, you should try driving into a ditch while leaned over. ..... I didn't brake my clutch lever, though. glad you're in one piece, and the bike's only in two.

Welcome to the club.  The weight of our X's serves them well in giving us a great, comfortable ride, but it comes at a price.  Most importantly, glad that you are O.K.  No matter how much experience we accumulate on the VTX, I suppose there will always be something more to learn, and I'm sure this bad experience will leave you more savy.

Hey if the JB weld doesn't work you can use locking pliers or vise grips.  Hey you did good Rider not to get hurt.

Dropped mine in my driveway under very similar circumstances. I ordered my engine guards that afternoon. If you're fighting a little incline at a slow roll with the wheel cut hard,  the phuquing VTX will hand over too much of 740 pounds very quickly.

One of the cons of the VTX is slow roll turning....parking lots and so forth.

Glad to see that you only had "minor" damage.............because it truly could have been worse.
