Oily Brakes
« on: September 27, 2010, 12:25:45 PM »

My left fork has been leaking for some time now and I have taken care of that issue.  What remains is to clean up the brake caliper and rotor on that side.  I have new pads but I need to get the oil off the rest of the caliper and rotor.  What should I use to do this? There are a number of brake cleaners on the market.  Is anyone better than another?

any type of brake cleaner will work.  Oreilly has their own and will work just as good as the name brand stuff.

+1 on that oreilly.  I actually just bought some this weekend to clean up so really old gunked up parts on my bobber build and it does take most the grime and grease away, but I still suggest using some dish soap afterwards to really clean it up good.
