Front Forks
« on: September 27, 2010, 12:19:48 PM »

I removed my forks last weekend to change the oil and put in new fork seals.  The left one was leaking and I decided to change the seals on both.  What I noticed is that the left fork does not have any damping on the rebound and the right does.  I know that the two forks are different internally.  Is this how they should be on an '02 1800c?  If not, what might be the problem with the left fork?

sure you didn't put the left fork in the right side and the right fork inthe left side thereby forking the whole thing up! sorry I couldn't help myself, I have no clue. :couch:

Actually, Honda of Houston made me a great deal since I already had the parts, oil and forks off the bike.  They just charged me 1 hour labor to install new seals clean them up and replace the oil.  Before changing the seals and new oil, the front end was very bouncy.  Jonnie Cheese called it a pogo stick when I was there recently and that is when I noticed the leak.  It felt like I had no dampening.

I did call the dealer and talked to one of the techs.  He said that we was not sure about my specific bike but said that some bikes did have different dampening between the forks.  I just want to check to see if he was full of AppleSauce or not.

I am going to post this on the big board and see what they say.

Don't worry about it, put some progressives in and ride, mine was similiar and put-in the new shocks for my Fat Crans.; and now it rides just a little firm but I like it.

Already have progressive front and back.  The main problem was old oil and leaking seal.  I am going to put it all back together today.

I did post this on VTXOA and at least some folks feel this is the way they were designed.
