If it hadn't been for SPAM when I was a kid, I'd probably be a vegetarian. I still like a fried SPAM and mayo sandwich. Some days it was just a Mayo sandwich.
Boy, was I a happy kid back then (50's). Life was simple.

I've got a funny story about SPAM.

Suzanne was the Operations Manager of an HVAC/Plumbing Co. here in SA. Her company had the contracts for all the SBC huts that you see along the highways. They have to be air conditioned to keep the equipment cool. Several hurricanes ago, when it was certain one was going to make landfall in South Texas, she had to send some me out there to stay and monitor several of them. She made motel reservations for them, and sent them off to HEB with a company check to by provisions. Mind you, these were 2 guys that probably had to have their wives layout their work uniform in the morning, just so they got the colors right. When they came back to the office, they started unloading their haul. They'd spent over $350 on SPAM, Potted meat, bread, crackers, and fruit cups. Suzanne said they had a cart load of SPAM! Needless to say.....She made them take it all back.
