I knew Roy personally and grew up in the same small town of ElCampo
I will never forget seeing him jogging down the road on my day to day drive to work .
I talked with him many times , but never did know anything about him being a war hero
Till one day my sister who was a X-ray tec. at the El Campo hospital showed me a x-ray she had taken of Roy
I could not believe this man was even alive , there were so many bullets & pieces of shrapnel in him ,
& yet was jogging down the road like nothing was ever wrong with him.
I am very proud and honored to have know him.
I would like to clear up one thing, he was not taunted as a dumb Mexican by class mates.
I know several people who attend school with Roy and were very offended by this , These remarks came from a book he
wrote and was doctored up by the editor.
