Master cylinder covers
« on: August 12, 2006, 08:57:21 AM »

I know this may be a stupid question, but I have new chrome covers. If I take the old ones off and replace them, do I need to bleed the brakes?

Also, is there a polishing kit or materials I can get to polish parts that are metal, but not chromed or polished?

Thanks,
John

No bleeding required.

I got my polishing kit from the home depot.  It was like 19.99 and came with 3 grades of rouge and three buffing wheels. They can either go on the end of a drill or a di-grinder.  Di-grinder works best.

FYI most of that stuff has a clear coat or is actually painted grey.  you have to sand that down first, Green scowering pad works best, and then polish.  otherwize, your just spinning your wheels.

Or use paint stripper to get the coating off, I like to use the path of least resistance.  O0

www.caswellplating.com is a great source for polishing supplies.
