Safety Keep Alert
« on: March 26, 2010, 04:55:07 AM »

PHOENIX, AZ -- Several motorcycles have been involved in a crash with a garbage truck on the northern edge of Phoenix that has left at least three people dead and several others seriously injured.

Phoenix Fire Department Deputy Chief Frank Salomon says six patients are in critical condition and two were airlifted to a hospital. Salomon says one of the injured is a Phoenix firefighter. His condition is not known.

Jarrod Cook, a worker at the nearby Ketzal Mexican Grill, says several motorcycles are wedged underneath the truck.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon in the area of 27th Avenue and the Carefree Highway, which was expected to be closed for several hours.

The truck rearended them at a stop light, went through them, and hit the car in front of the bikes.

Great advise, I have shifted to neutral at stop lights many times without thinking of what could happen. Thank you........

--- and always have an emergency escape route in your mind as you come to a stop. Never stop directly behind a car or truck in front of you but off to one side or the other for a quick get-a-way so to say ------

10/4 to that! The X is great to get you to another point quickly if need be, but not if you're hemmed in.
