The major problem with polished wheels with no protection added will stain and discolor and your constantly having to clean and buff them. Brian (BGreer) had polished wheels and he had made that statement in one of his posts one time and I listened. I still plan to polish some a piece of aluminum and shoot some clear coat over it to see how it does. I've shot clear over some surfaces and they lost their polished look and just didn't achive the look I wanted so---. I'll get some aluminum done and report back.

I think Hooter is right. Trying to keep them from tarnishing would be a constant battle. My bet is that clearcoat (on top of dulling the shine) will be hard to keep from flaking and peeling. I would love to have shinny (chrome like) wheels without the cost of buying new chrome wheels but dont know how that is possible. I am thinking that powder coating a light silver would be better than my spotty dull cast wheels.

Wonder what it would cost to take a stripped wheel to someone who does chrome plating? Anyone ever persued this?

On my 2002 1800 c i had i went through the same thing you all are going through. Dull looking rims! I looked about the exchange thing with GatewayXtreme and by chance found a set on E bay selling out right. I won them for $600.00 and sold mine for $300.00. So a chrome set was only  $300.00 buckeroos! No more polishing!! Just have to look! Good deals do happen!

I will say that chrome, if like Chad you can get the right price is the way to go but for those of you that don't know, in the Houston area is one of our own that has a business, chroming and will polish your wheels and stand behind them. Hook'em from what I hear does a jam up great job and very fair priced. I believe it's AmeriCustom in Groves.  409 963 0072  Dewayne. Check him out, good man and club member X rider.
