Windows 7
« on: August 14, 2009, 12:32:03 AM »

Just in case anyone was wondering, Windows 7 is awesome...

I'm digging it even more than Ubuntu, well kind of, but it is what I am sticking with at least until this eval. copy period ends...

We've been messing with it at work and it seems to be pretty nice.  As with a lot of companies/people, we skipped Vista completely.

I bought a gateway with Vista. Vista sux. Couldn't use half my old programs. With windows 7 can I go back and use programs that would work with XP?

No.  Windows 7 is Vista with all the crap removed.  Its still based on Vista architecture.

It does run much much better than Vista though.  But I havent used Vista with the latest service packs.  Hopefully you guys all got in on the $39 deal from microcenter for windows 7 when it is released....

I hated Vista so I waited until I got a great deal to buy a new computer. I was lucky and was given a coupon to update to the new Window 7 for free when it comes out in Oct.

Martin, I can't remember what I did but I was able to get all of my old programs to work.
