Confused...Which Spark Plug came with my 02C???

Confused...Which OEM Spark Plug came with my 02C???

The HDL listing shows both P/N's,

Was it the NGK IFR5L11 or the NGK IFR6L11 and if anyone knows which one is the colder version from the other that would be great to know also.

There are a lot of threads on this but I'm somewhat confused about which one is the hotter plug.

Thanks in advance on this.  :bikerider:

Bosch 4419's

That doesn't answer your question, that just what I have been running in my 1800 03 C since I got it and I now have 65,000 miles on it.

Ok, I stop being lazy and got my service manual.

Standard is IFR6L11
For cold climate/below 5*C/41* F  IFR5L11
For standard extended high speed riding IFR7L11

I have no clue which is the coolest but I would guess that it would be the 6.
Hopefully someone will chime in that knows for sure.

Got a phone call from Hipshot, for some reason he can't post but said the "5" is the hotter plug.

the 6 was standard for the 02 model. they went to the 5 in 03 due to plug fouling with the colder plug. definetly go with the 5. good luck.

I have been trying to post this but I couldn't post here. The 6s came on the 02s; the 5s are one step hotter and the 03s and up came with 5s. The Bosch 4418 is the eqiuvalent of the 6 and the 4419 is the equivalent of the 5.

hipshot is correct, i mixed up my numbers. :couch:

I fixed it. the higher the number the colder the plug.

The 4419 is one step hotter than the plug that came in the 02s. It is the equivalent to the plug that came in the 03s and up. The plug was changed because the 02s had plug fouling issues. Changing to the slightly hotter plug cured the issue for the most part. The 4419 is the plug you want to run in your 1800 (if you want to run the Bosch plugs) unless you NEVER get your RPM below 5k. If you drive like a maniac 100% of the time, the 4418s will work.
