Get a fairing and put a killer stereo in it! Maybe look like this ride when finished. 8)

Why a loud stereo?  I prefer an Ipod and Etymotic ER-6 in-ear headphones.  Superior sound quality, pretty cheap, useful off the bike, etc.   ;D

I started with a mini disc player with ear buds. Was fine except for havng to change the disc plus after an hour or so the ear buds start hurting my ears. I then added speakers from this site http://www.cyclesounds.com//index.php?main_page=page_2

I see they have branched out some, the speakers I had were 4" Blouplunk (sp) mounted in Harley driving light housing and clamped to the handlebars. Was ok, but at 70 mph and above the quality of the sound became distorted. The big shots don't help this at all.

When I got the ZUMO GPS WITH XM I went back to the wire and earbuds. Pain in the arse. I then bought a headset extension cable and ran it from the GPS, under the tank and brought it out where the seat and tank meet. I bought some Phillips SHS390 headphones after trying more earbuds that still hurt. The headphones have been the answer for me. I thread the cable under my shirt to keep the wire from flying around and plug in once I'm on the bike. The headphone head piece actually goes behind your neck and are shaped so that they lay over my ears. That way they don't interfere with a helmet. As a matter of fact, the helmet straps help make the headphones press against the ears better.

In my opinion, nothing is going to work at 70 mph + with loud pipes and no fairing. A windshield helps but only up to around 65.

Good Luck

This is the system that I have on my bike. Even at 70+mph you can still hear it good.

The DWG system for $99

I disagree completely... but to each their own.  Ipod w/ Etymotic in-ears, and I don't even have to have the volume much about 1/2 way up!  :bikerider:

Yeah, you should disagree. That was a pretty stupid thing for me to say when I know I have only tried a very limited amount of what's probably available. Plus my hearing isn't what it use to be. I tend to hear everything in the room except the person across the table talking to me.  :banghead:
Do you have a link to where the Etymotic's can be purchased?

That is the point... you want them to hear you coming.....!!! :t :t

I have a Kenwood KD-MP438U, built in EQ, i can play CD, USB, Ipod, FM/AM, and satelite if purchased.... With 4 - 5" infinity marine speakers.... I usually ride 2 up with wifie and she can hear it just as good....

I myself oppose the ear phones... cant hear what is around you, or coming at you for that matter....

Many people on the VTXOA site have used these:  http://www.gooddeals18.com/c=UuoqabA5VZWBLpG7qwx4JpoXP/category/motorcycle_audio/

This is the setup I have on my bike with an XM radio....love it!  I got the 250 amp with the remote....about $130 for speakers, amp and hardware to mount.  Remote gives you easy access to mute, raise and lower volume!  Only downfall is the amp reverts back to the default FM channel each time you power up.  You can run FM, a MPG3 player, Ipod and/or XM off of the amp....just depends on what type of setup you want to run.  Speakers mount to the handlebars or windshield, I mounted on the windshield.  Volume is great, can hear with no problem!
