Riding to Tennessee and Deal's Gap
« on: July 12, 2009, 08:45:08 PM »

I just returned from a 2 week trip on my VTX from San Antonio, Texas to Tullahoma, Tennessee to visit family and old friends.
On I-10 (8 lanes) headed east just west of Houston, I was almost taken out by a TV Set. I was in the lane next to the slow lane and notice a box laying in the right side of the fast lane. A car hits the box and it is apparent the box was actually a large TV Set. The TV spun wildly and slid across 3 lanes of interstate and crashed into the right retaining wall. I rode through the debris, missing the TV by 10 feet. At 70 mph, that was a close call.

I rode with a stock seat and experience a sore butt. Next time......

I also took a trip to Deal's Gap and rode the Dragon on 6 July. I was riding down the mountain and 100 yards ahead at one point, a black bear cub run across the road to join another cub and the mother. I stopped and took photos.

Overall a great trip.

Here is a photoshow of the trip to Deal's Gap:

Nice to see someone get out on the VTX with a stock seat and make a long ride. I am heading to Columbia SC in sept on mine.. that is if all my plans hold.. Going solo so dont have to worry about the wife slowing me down any. I asked if she wanted to go and got laughed at.. LOL

San Marcos to Columbia SC  1169 miles  :ohwow: but cant wait to ride !!!!!!!!!!
