My has started something similar, but only happens when it has sat for a few days, and only at the first try.  Then it is fine, and even the next day.  But let it set for any length of time, and it will slip at the first try.  It started at my last oil change.  Same Amsoil, same Purolator filter that I used before.  I am at about 11K mi.  Any ideas, and what did you find?

Thanks.

I was big on Amsoil at first but started having some small issues.  I went back to Mobil 1 and have no problems now.  My two cents.

Oops, for some reason I thought you had an 1800. I switched to Amsoil over 20k ago with no issues. I was using Royal Purple before that (it has a highter moly content) with no issues.

As long as you're not using oils with a lot of moly added, I don't think oil will be the issue.

I haven't so far, now that I bought 2 cases the other day I probably will. Just my luck. :ohwow:

No problems with Amsoil.

You could just put stronger springs is it.  I went ahead and changed my plates since I was in there anyway.

Synthetic oil will not cause your clutch to slip. Something else is wrong.

You got the clutch lever to tight, the cable is suppose to have enough slack to put a quarter between the lever an the perch.

That is how mine started out.  But after a year it got really bad.  I would say it is your springs.  If you replace them and have the money go ahead and do the plates.  If you need help just bring it over and we will get it done.
