I have installed some new gallery software.  It contains a members gallery section and below it there are other categories that I have created.  BBT, Lone Star, etc.

There are pluses and minuses to all the options that I looked at.  For now, we'll go with what's installed and see how it goes.  This integrates into our current board well since you don't need to login again to view the pictures.  It uses your current login for permissions.

If you notice at the top of the menu bar where it says "Menu", "Help", etc...there is now an icon for gallery.  There is a section for Members Galleries that are specific to each member.  You can create your own categories, upload pictures, delete pictures and also create sub categories.  Each member that creates a gallery will have their own section more or less that all others can view  No other member can upload to another members gallery (by design).

Below Members Galleries is an area to create all other categories...Lone Star Galleries, Bluebonnet Thunder Rally Galleries and so on.  Only the admins appointed to the Gallery can create categories (by design of the software...not me).  However, all members of the board can upload pictures to each folder and give them a title and description.

I have prevented adding of pictures to the main folders.  This is so that all photo's are created in the sub categories.  Like BBT I and BBT II.  It shoud help keep the photo's a bit more organized by year.

If you have some ideas or ANY input, please let me know.  Just start playing with the gallery as I don't think you can break it.  Try creating folders and uploading pictures.  If it says you can't do something, more than likely there is something blocked that I didn't see or it's blocked on purpose.  If you want to know about something, just post.

Also, if you are using any other theme under your profile besides the default, the Gallery icon may not show up just yet.  I might need to edit some files for that to happen.  If you don't see the icon, then you can click this link to get to the gallery in the meantime.  http://www.texasxriders.com/index.php?action=gallery

If anyone has some pictures from some of the old rallies I would appreciate if you could upload those.  We lost a lot of old pictures on the old server.

If there is a category that needs to be created or more sub folders made, please pm me or post it here.

Brock, you need to take the comments section out bad as I hate it... remember the links to porn and adware and viruses that were put in the comments section on the old Gallery? We don't need that again. If we want to comment about a pic, I guess it will need to be p/m or in open forum. It would have taken a lot of work to clear off all the crap that was put in the comments section of our old gallery.

Figured out it was just too large to upload, also that when you try to add a comment, it has to be approved first, so I guess those issues are moot. It will not offer to let me add a picture to the user album section as it will the rest of the rally albums. Any idea Brock? I put the group pic from bbt 1 in place...will try to add the group pic from 2,3,4, and 5 tomorrow. See if you can get me cleared to add pics to my user gallery  Brock. Thanks. SSSSssssssnake

Everyone should have the exact same access with the exception of me.  I'll need to check and see if the board members have different access to the gallery.  I wouldn't think so since I gave all members the same.

As for the comments, yeah they have to be approved.  Also, the other gallery had a different login and different security.  This gallery uses the existing security for this site.  It passes through, so they would have to be a member of this site to even make a comment.

I'll take a look at your gallery issue.

Snake, doesn't each pic have a check box below, when you load it, where you can uncheck, and thereby not allow comments on that pic? I saw that box when I threw my one BBT (BigBendTrip) pic on yesterday. Never mind if this is an option that Brock just added...
