I've run alot of different brands on my earlier bikes (triumphs, Honda 750s, and Goldwings) and now I really don't know which ones to get. The Dunlop D251's on my 1800C never really worked for me. Well they now have almost 9,500 miles and the air is close to the surface.    I'm hoping somebody out there lives in the same conditions or style of roads I have to drive locally, let me explain. I live in a small town and every street is rough asphalt with pea gravel on every corner and cracks that just wait for to grab your front tire every chance it gets. The roads, usually are Farm to Market (FM) roads that are ruff surfaced asphalt with gravel mashed into it. Most of you veterian Texas guys that have riden the back rodes most of your lives know what I'm talking about.Basically what I'm talkin about is it's not your smooth city concrete style roads. I do ride up and down I-35 every day (80 mi) going to work and home, but mostly what I have to ride is what I described earlier. What I need is some input. I want a tire that will handle wet and rainy roads and basically all the described conitions and still give me some dependable miles. The last set I bought was 10 years ago as for my wing (Continental) and there have been so many changes in tread patterns and rubber compounds I don't really know which to go.
HEP ME make a choice.

Might want to try either Metzler, Maxxim, or even Bridgestone.

I know what you mean with the farm roads.( live on one) I have Metzler 880 tires on my 1800c and have gotten 11,000 out of the front tire and 10,000 out of the back. Only reason the front one went was I should of had 40 psi in it and didn't. They hug the road real well and will buy another set when these wear out. Good luck,  Chad

Go with AVONS

I second AVONs. Based on what I've heard and read, they are the best for wear and wet riding.  I've had Dunnies and Metz and now I have Avons but only have 50 miles on them.  The stock Dunnies are a joke of a tire, either Metz or Avons will be a world of difference. Haven't heard much about Bridgstone.

I'm on my third set of Avons on this bike now. Stock Dunnies showed tread at 7k. My rear venom R's are getting 10-11K. The front is getting 14-16K.

Thanks but Maxxim dosen't make a rear tire foe an 1800. Heard they were good tires but the factory rep sez no gota a 180 70 16.

It's almost down to a coin flip between Metzler's and Avon's and VTXchad lives on my style of roads and Snake has alot of miles under his hemorides. Thanks for all your replis but I think Avon will win. (maybe) Thanks guys.

Stock sized avon venom R's. 1800r with LOTSA' hard miles on it. Carrying the load is hard enough on it, but my riding "style" is harder! And yeah 50 is right. Right at 50 K on this bike so far. I traded my last one in at 50K, This one's gonna hafta' last a little longer!
