looking for chrome or stain less steel bolts
« on: July 06, 2006, 09:37:53 PM »

Anyone know where is a good place that carries lots of chrome or stainless bolts.

I already went to lowes, homedepo, sear, Ace hardware, with no luck.

Not sure where you're at but Baytown Bolt has never let me down. Don't think they have alot of chrome, but stainless is no problem. Any size.

There is an Ace Hardware off of Mason and Higland Knolls that carries the full line of chrome metric and standard bolts, nuts, spacers, washers.

My opinion,  if you have a choice, get the stainless. Since you have to put a wrench on bolts the chrome can get messed up.  Stainless can be polished back out uber easy and never fails like chrome might.

Gabe

Try calling all the Ace Hardware store's in your area.  They have a bolt program that the stores can do or not do.
The guy close to me is in the program and told me about it.
They have lots of chrome, stainless, allen head in Metric and SAE.
Just find one in your area that has them.
Oh by the way most of them will have the chrome stuff locked up in a cage or cabint.  TOOOO much walks away if they don't.

I tried them, and the problem was the 1.25 thread pitch...they have mostly, 1.50, and 1.75
