How to avoid getting a ticket. (link)

I showed up at a campsite where 4 of my biker co-workers were staying. We were going on a morning ride to get breakfast. Two of the guys that were supposed to ride waved me on and said "We can't make this one". My boss started his bike and looked at me and said "A lot of people 'own' motorcycles".

Great article.  As an actual Grandpa, I can vouch for a lot of what was said.  It also works in cars.  I drive a PT Cruiser GT Turbo when not on one of my bikes, and have never been stopped.  I loaned it to my 24-year old son to just drive to the store and back and he was stopped before he cleared the next block.

He doesn't look like a hooligan, just a 24-year old.  That's enough though.

A lot of common sense in this one but the reminders are always good.
Being a Grandpa and using the techniques in this article have worked for me most of the time.
You can usually tell right away which officers are not in the mood for leanency (spell check would be nice).

Boy - I wish I had been that lucky. I was out cruising in my Mustang GT convertible and got stopped & ticketed..... of course I was doing about 85 on I-45 in Houston, during the middle of the day.... with the CD blaring Bob Seger, top down....     8)

Well I'm a grandpa and I've found out a couple of things, I don't set a very good example, and it's a lot easier to twist my wrist than push my foot.

When I was stopped for an allegedly illegal turn, the officer walked around the truck, saw the sticker for the "100 Club" talked to me and wrote a warning.  I politely maintained I did not do as he said and he gave me benefit of the doubt.  FYI, the 100 Club is a non profit that members contribute to benefit the widows and children of policemen and firemen who fall in the line of duty.  A worthwhile cause with a fortunate side benefit.  Of course, a bad attitude would have negated that.   A Austin cop I knew years ago used to say he wrote a ticked for FTDPA when the driver he would stop argued with him.  FTDPA = Failure to display proper attitude.   ;D
