1300 R handle bars
« on: July 26, 2008, 12:25:38 AM »

just got a new 1300r motortrike. heres the problem I'm 6'6" with arms longer than King Kongs. When I'm on the trike my elbows are tucked into my sides and my wrist are cocked out at about a 45 degree angle. this is hard on the wrist, and since it is a trike and really have to steer into the turns it is hard to have good throttle control. the stock bars show to have a 12" pull back.and are 33" wide.I've been looking at beach bars that are 39" wide but the all have more pull back than than the stock bars. These would be wider but because of the pull back they would be even closer to me and not eleveate the bent wrist. I've looked at x bars and drag bars but I dont think they fit with retro look. I've talked to the dealer but thats like going to autozone. If those kids can't punch it into the computer they know nothing. I hope some real riders might be able to give me some suggestions. thanks. I would think shorter risers and the beach bars should do the trick.  Also ya might be able to pivot your bars up for a different angle.

And then there are ape hangers for the people with king kong arms.  O0

Since we're all constructed differently, what works for me may not work for you. To me, the stock 1800C bars are absolutely the most uncomfortable thing I've ever had to endure, but some folks like 'em. So I'll suggest this:

Sit on your bike and see where you want your hands in relation to where your current bars place them. Then figure out the width, height, and pullback you need. Go to one of the catalogs (Flanders makes a lot of bars) and match the numbers.
