New Tires in Houston
« on: April 07, 2008, 10:48:06 AM »

My search-fu is evidently weak.

I have an 1800S. I need to replace my rear tire and I'm thinking of going ahead and knocking out the front while I'm at it.

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced shop that might have the tires I need in stock?

There are a couple of places you can look. Right up the road from you is Motorcycles Unlimited.  Patrick has done some work on my dad's and my bikes.  Also there is Rob at C and C cycles in the Woodlands where I bought the Avon's for the VTX and my dad bought the Elite III's.

Motorcycles Unlimited Telephone: 281 444 0545

Good Luck and I am sure some others will chime in on places they have used.

I use Discount Motorcycle Tires in Pasadena. They are on Spencer near Shaver. They have good prices and are first come first serve on installs.

Ditto Warren's suggestion of Discount Motorcycle Tires.  I have gotten several tires from them and always been satisfied.

Can't speak highly enough of Tejas Motorsports in Highlands.  Only $18 labor to change it when you ride the bike in!

I just put 2 metzlers on my 1800 c model. I checked several places and cost of tires were very close. the mount and balance was what varied wildly.MC unlimited was slightly cheaper on the tires but slightly higher on M&B. I ended up at Houston Honda because the price was close but M&B was actually cheaper and they are close to the house. Worth checking out pasadena and highlands if the difference is significant, just a long way to go if you have a problem. IMO

If you have time these folks ship free as long as you buy 2 tires and they are the cheapest I have seen
http://arizonamoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?

also there is a guy that will mount your tires for $10 each and he sells dyna beads
I bought the dyna beeds from him and had him mount both my tires, one was a car tire
he is pretty cheap and it got rid of the exterior weights
I think it is bucks international (a guy in his garage)
I tried to search for him in the dealer locater, but I think that link is broken
