Sounds like a speedo healer would be a wise investment for you.

Amazing how this technology we have isn't as good as the old "cable to the front tire" thing.

My 1800 w/ original fd , speedo is pretty close - 70 mph speedo = 68.5 mph GPS.  On my girlfriend's Shadow, 70 mph speedo=62 mph GPS...  Funny thing is, when we fuel up together and compare odometer's they are exactly the same, in spite of the speedo difference.

My odometer is spot on also, even with a 5% error on the speedometer, can't figure how that works. :o

I need to get my GPS on my bike myself now...  I think my speedo is off pretty noticeably now that I'm on the dark side...

Uhm ... where is the speed sensor on the 1800's? I assume it's electronic and tied to the shaftdrive?
I'd like to consider a digital speedo like Diamond or Dakota, but just starting to look into the possibility of either of these two working with the 1800's.

Thanks,
LW

I believe you're correct, it's tied to the shaft, but I don't know exactly how.

A number of folks have installed the Dakota speedometer on VTXs. They work just fine; do a search on VTXOA.
