Kuryakyn Triple Whammy
« on: December 08, 2007, 11:55:44 PM »

Has anyone one here insalled a Kuryakyn Triple Whammy Run-Turn-Brake Light Kit? I installed one on my 07 VTX1300 and it did not quite hold up to Kuryakyns Standards. The Left rear turn signal worked as it should, but it was very dim,and the right rear turn signal(although it came on bright) did not blink and the front on the right blinked as if the rear was out or not hooked up.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havn't installed them but from what you describe, it sounds like a grounding problem.

It's also possible to install the tail light bulb upside down and that will cause the lights to do silly chit. Don't ask me how I know.  :(

If I had the tail light in upside down wouldn,t the lights do silly chit even without the triple whammy installed? My lights seem to work just fine without that module installed. But yes it looks like a grounding problem to me also but I think I'll let the dealer handle that.

Talked with the engineers at Kuryakyn and come to find out.....the part was bad. I ordered and recieved a 2nd part, took it straight to the dealer and when they opened it up one of the plug ins was already broke. It was a used one that someone else had sent back. I bought this from HDL and since both kits I got had problems I am thinking that these things might not be a good investment.
Anyone else ever have one of these kits installed, that actually worked?

I have it installed on my 05 1300 and it works fine.
Did you use the load stabilizer?

I recently installed this on my 03 1800r with stock lights. I did have a problem that it blew a 10 amp fuse that is for all the lights, except for headlight, twice. Changed to to 15 amp.  This link helped me with the connections.

I finally got a 3rd tripple whammy, the 1st had grounding problems(I Hope)and the 2nd one was actually broken when I opened up the package, like someone had already tried to install it and broke one of the connectors, and I actually ordered a 3rd one but this time I got it from Kuryakyn instead of HDL. I see that you posted a link to the site showing installation to an 1800 but it is different for the 1300. So had anyone installed this part on thier 1300 that can tell me wire for wire what needs to be done?

Ok you will all be happy to know that I will not ask anyone else about the Tripple Whammy. I plugged this 3rd one in amd it worked like it was supposed too. But for anyone who has an 07' 1300R be aware that the stock rear flashers do not have heat shields. But the new ones come with everything you need to just put them on.
