The Clayton Mod and Synthetic oil
« on: August 29, 2007, 01:41:16 PM »

Hey folks my name is William, and I am new to this site and I came back to riding in April with purchase of 1300R.
1. If I do the Clayton mod will it void the warranty?
2. I eventually would like to switch to synthetic, which is a good brand?
I was told the oil had to be non energy conserving due to the wet clutch.

Thanks for your input.

The Clayton mod will void the warranty on your exhaust system and your emissions system. Oil is a touchy subject; lots'a folks will go to fightin' over oil brand loyalty. I'd recommend Amsoil or Mobil One as the top two choices. There are a lot of good synthetic oils out there. I use Amsoil and I used to use Royal Purple. As you stated, use a non-energy conserving 10w-40. Switch oils at your next oil change.

Where are you located?

Thanks for the info, I will wait until my warranty expires before any mods are done.
