Hoped to make the Rally but it's not going to happen....

Work sure does seem to get in the way alot. We hoped to make it but can't. Everyone have a good and safe time and we'll see some of you at the Lone Star rally. On a side note though I am going to be off memorial weekend for a few days so we are planning to either go up to the Talimena trail in Arkansas ( which we've done before) or ride the bike to the Big Bend area (where we've never been).. has anyone here ever ridden down to the Big Bend and is it worth the trip??

RD, Jerry (Quicksilver), Flamer...err...ummm..txgaboy (Wayne), did it when they did the R.A.T. ( Ride around Texas) last year.

Most of the places down there are cool, specially in the evening during winter!! LOL  When the sun goes down, it can surprise ya quickly though, even during the summer.  I heard that they shut down the border crossing though.  Went in Oct. 1 year, and it got downright chilly at night.

in study butte there is an old hotel called the chisos mining company, no frills but not bad, also down the road toward terlingua there is a bar called la kiva, thats pretty cool, looks like a cave, also some good eats at the starlight lounge in terlingua, also do the trip to lajitas and up the mountain roads to presidio, are some great sights, and steep grade roads O0 O0

My step-dad grew up out there. His only advise to me was to either go in the early spring or wait until the fall. It gets pretty hot there during the day.

Hey thx for all the info guys.. I really want to check it out down there, The heat is a little bit of a concern but i was hoping it wouldn't be too bad yet.
