I got one similar to that from paypal the other day stateing that a resent purchase had been made in the amount of $42.95 and if I had not authorized it to click this link.

Instead, I went to my paypal account and there had not been any activity. You really have to suspect everything now days.

I've gotten two of those in the last two weeks. I did the same thing, (checking my account). They really look legit when you first see them.

I've got several of them and I hit reply and ask them if they think I am some kind of idiot and ask them how many fools actually "click" the click here button. I also tell them I have reported them to the athorities.

Most of them bounce back as undeliverable mail. The ones that don't I don't get mail from anymore.

I've received several phishing emails regarding PayPal that did not check out when I logged onto their site.  Also, in the last week I have received two emails purporting to be from Bank of America requesting I click the link and verify some security info.  A close look show poor grammar and spelling (so it could still be from B of A   ;D ) but the official site had no changes.  When I sent PayPal a security alert regarding the email, I received a response that it was definitely a phishing scam.  When I sent a similar message to the security team at Bank of America, they never bothered to respond.

Hey Snake,
I talked to a guy name Ray Kumpe in New Boston a couple days ago. He may be riding up to the Hoot with me. I thought you might know him. He is a photographer.

I got an interesting phone call Sunday about noon. I was at work which I was already real tickled about.
A recorded massage says that it was my credit union and if I was me to enter the last 4 digits of my social.
Of course I didn't thinking if this is for real someone will come on the line. They did and this guy states that he is with my credit union and ask if I had authorized a USPS purchase in Kansas for $362 and a purchase of flowers in New York for $830 on my debit card. I said no. According to this guy someone did and he recommended that I cancel the card. I said, yes please! He told me to contact the credit union Monday to get a new card. Well, I decided I would hold off on the new card but called to see what info I could get. They saw nothing and the card had not been canceled. The girl helping me told me to let her do some checking because she wasn't authorised to look at everything. She called back and said that the charges had indeed been made but she couldn't see them because they were not processed yet. I am responsible and if they had my pin # which they shouldn't, then I am really responsible.
I will file dispute paperwork soon and then wait until it is researched and they make their decision.

I really hate a thief.

I had my truck stolen once and reported all my cards stolen with it and Phillips 66 let someone charge about $600.00 on a card I hadn't used in about three years AFTER I reported them stolen!

They bought gas and beer!
