Takeing the heat, eh
« on: April 03, 2007, 08:16:16 PM »

I had a bad day at work. The boys made a mistake, that I will catch hell for tomorow. It is a common mistake . It involves tearing out rail road tracks. I only had the responsibility for those involved. Yet the choices I made. Will all come to rest on my shoulders. That would be part of the game if I was getting paid as management. I am not, I don't want any part of that. All was fine untill the repair crew, got called away, and they didn't make it there. My relief who is management, will make the most of it. To futher his carier. My Cranberries will be on the carpet tomorow. Eh Pufft.

Brother,

I know how you feel.  All of the weight of someone elses responsibility is on your shoulders, but you've been doing it so long that it's your responsibility now.

So if it gets messed up, it's your fault.

Been there, done that, and will probably do it again.  On those days, I want to call in dead, and just never go back to work.

But once I got it over with, I guess, it wasn't really worth all of the dread that I felt.

Good luck.

Love that "I want to call in dead" thing... Awesome word play.  I write songs for a hobby. I'm gonna steal that at some point. Sorry about the digression.  8)

Oh I know that feeling well. I've been the new guy for 7 months now and I've made some calls that bring down a LOT of heat on my head. I think the reason that they tolerate me is because I make the calls rather than dodge them. Hope you make it through ok... O0

Bill, if you get a call from my office tomorrow, be sure and tell them it WASN'T because I was out riding all afternoon... :o

It turns out I handeled that just right. The supervisors who tried to make such a big deal of it. Got called on the carpet for not getting anything done about it. I got it fixed the next day. None involved got in trouble. When the supervisors asked what happened, I could honestly say, didn't know because it is not my job to find out what happened. When the thing happened one person came to tell me all about it, and stress that it was not his fault. I cut him short, I told him I have to deal with it, thats all I need to know. A investigation of the  thing will be done, or not, by other people, who get paid to do that. I dont feel sorry for the supervisors one bit. They could have dealt wth it,or let it go, They wanted their name on a piece of paper to be looked at,  by their supervisor. They got what they wanted.
