Flip-up Helmet Repair
« on: May 13, 2006, 05:01:40 PM »

I own a Summit Vega flip-up helmet. Well I had it about 6 months and the wire that connects the 2 clips broke..  :(   I was talking to a buddy of mine at work who said I should try a fishing leader to repair it.  Well I went to Wal-mart today and got 6  9 in leaders for $1.66 drive out. I connect the ends to the clips and routed the line thru the slots, I had to push the button a few times to get it to work, but its works perfect and I have 5 more in case it breaks..  :)

but, when i was at the dealer buying the bike and a helmet, i asked if they had more of the vegas in another color and size in the back.  she said that they had quit making em cause of poor quality, said they were always breaking....

Flip face helmets scare the crap out of me. Those things will break wide open in a crash.

I'd take it back if most things these days have a year manufacters warranty. If they don't make it anymore I 'd demand a similar replacement. Not sure I'd trust the helmet that I had to fix. Just my 2 cents...
