Hey Tom Cat, Wasn't really raggin on you or Amarillo. I grew up in AppleSauce-splat Brownfield and was real happy to see Lubbock in my rear view mirror, but both my boys graduated from Tech and we still have a family farm in Brownfield, so I guess there's still a soft spot for west Texas. We used to use those roads you're talking about to drive around and get high, or hunt jack rabbits and coyotes. Just don't think of them as motorcycle roads for some reason.

I have lived in the panhandle for many years and in West Texas. It may not be East Texas but we do have some sights around here. You may have to look a little closer but there are some good rides up here. You want twistys, try some of our back roads around Palo Duro Canyon some time.
