Starter Switch problem
« on: February 17, 2007, 04:48:37 PM »

Think I'm starting to have the old starter switch problem... :'(

Last weekend, cybrhick and I were giving my bike the once over before the I make the trip to Daytona (valve adjustment, new plugs, etc.) when he went to take it for a test ride.  Pushed the starter nothing, then again and it started.  He made a comment about looking into it.  So.....

I looked into it, went to the national board and found some very good information.
I had a light bar added when I purchased the bike from the dealer, who put it on for me.  I went down today to see if they put a relay in the system..

Talked to the sevice tech, he said that he didn't know and if the light bar had cased a problem it would be on me and warranty would not cover it, even thought their shop installed it.  I asked then would it not be a common practice to put a relay in the system to keep this from happening and protect their customers.  He told me that it wasn't his problem... I will say that HONDA'S service department has little to be disired. (IT SUCKS)

I'm gald that we have this forum and the friends that we meet to help out with doing our own work.

I guess that I will be taking the starter switch apart and working on it before I leave.

I know this is strange but... Spray some wd 40 in there and work it a few times. Also helps on the signal side if you have a ;ittle corrosion. What'd I say stop laughing and go try.  ;)
