No clutch in 4 or 5th gear??

I noticed yesterday that I can shift to 4th and 5th gear very easy without the clutch, but of course letting off the throttl as well.
 Stupid question....is this bad for the bike? I don't hear any grinding or lurching of the bike. Seems to just slide right into gear and on down the road. I just did this once yesterday so it's not a habit just thought I would bounce it off you guys and get some better mechanical input on this.

What's a clutch? Ain't it that thing you pull when ya stop? :D :D

I wouldn't do it on a HD, I 'bout nearly tore out the tranny doing that on my old '88 Sporty.  But on my Magna and now the X, 4th and 5th don't seem to mind too much when I've got the rpm's up and shifting fast.  Of course, that could be a no-no so don't take my word for it!

You can do it in any gear.  That's how I run the bike at the track.

I use the clutch for 1st and 2nd after that it's all good. Almost 30k and I don't need no stinkin' clutch. :)
