New rider in the family
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:51:02 PM »

We are now a 2 bike family, we picked my son's bike up on Saturday. It's a little red 600 VLX has mustang seat. He loves it. Great starter bike. He has ridden it for a little while every day, since. On Sunday he came home from work and told me now he knows how I feel. He said the whole time he was at work he was thinking he hopes it stops raining cuz he wanted to ride when he got home.

We just came back from a little ride through the back of the Woodlands. I followed him, he was to going 50 in the burbs where the limit is 35. I Reminded him it's not good to do that at the stops.  I'm riding behind him trying to go the speed limit and set the good example, thinking I could so dust your butt. I rode that bike home on the 45, and tested how fast it would go, my bike has 20mhp on his. Then the little mom voice in my head took over and said don't think like that or you'll be racing him, and from the looks of it he's not going to need any encouragement. I have to get him out on some real roads, pretty soon, so he can get it out of his system.

He's already talking about what he wants to get for the bike. Little does he know I 've been eyeing that seat. ;D I know it won't fit anyways.

What have I done? I keep giving him little bits of advice and tips. It's hard not to worry a liitle, then it's hard not smile when I watch him ride too.

Ask Cinto to join the group so we can congratulate him........ ;D He is going to ride to the LSR?

I am glad Linda doesn't ride. I would be so worried. She has lead foot when she drives her car. A speeding ticket every other year.

A couple of weeks ago our daughter was in from Austin.  We made a breakfast run with her on the back of Bubba's trike, me on my VTX, and our son on his new VTX.  Later that day I told Bubba " it doesn't get any better than a good breakfast with your kids and a ride together on the bikes".  You will make many good memories together on the bikes.
