Hey all you 1300 riders....
« on: October 15, 2006, 02:15:58 AM »

Has anyone gone to a 200 rear tire on a 1300?  If so, any mods needed, or just mount the tire and go like hell?  If you have done it, are you satisfied with it?  Better, worse?  Thanks for the input. O0

I had a 200 rear tire on my bike... if you want the same 200 that the 1800's run you will need an 1800 wheel.  the wheel bolts right up, you will need to trim just a little bit inside the fender, also I had to upgrade the rear caliper and rotor also fro an 1800, this is the best gain aout of this mod, your brakes will improve drastically,  I have head of some riders drilling the 1300 rear rotor to make it work with the 1800 wheel... don't know too much about that.  with the 200 rear tire the bike handle very nice.

Also if you want to use the stock wheel on your 1300, there is a 200 tire for it, but is not as wide, and I think  it looks funky....

hope this helps...

I like the wider tire so much that I swaped the 200 rear tire for a 240.

I did the Foots mod also 1800 rear wheel, caliper and bracket. You can sometime find all the stuff and when you sell yours you should be close to even. It all cost me about 12.00 by the time I was done. Best of luck. I have seen the 200 on the stock 1300 wheel and it looks like a balloon. I would not do that.

I had a 200 metz on my bike when I bought it and put 19k (I got every mile out of that tire I believe) without any problems. Although I didn't have any problems, I didn't feel real comfortable with it after reading some of the negative comments on the setup. I'm now back with the stock size.

its been talked about on the national board for a long time.
lots and lots of guys did like Pokerbum and just mounted it on the rim and had no problems.
on the other hand, other guys had porblems, could be riding style, lack of checking air pressure, i dont know.
alot of tire places will not mount the 200 tire on the stock rim, they say its unsafe.
so the bottom line answer to your questions is
yes and no  O0
