Those of you with LeatherLyke Saddlebags
« on: October 11, 2006, 09:47:47 PM »

I have finally decided on going with LeatherLykes.  However, I have the Honda Deluxe Backrest setup and hate the adapter that puts the bags so far away.  I am trying to find out what backrest/luggage rack works with LeatherLykes and yet keeps the bags closer to the bike.  Any pics would be appreciated also. 8)

I would definitely be interested in he bags.  As for the adapter, if you have a retro, like I do, and you use the Honda Deluxe, LeatherLykes require a black adapter to accomodate the backrest/sissy bar.  LeatherLyke mentions this as a seperate part # on their site.  Also, there are some backrests that I have looked at that state they will not work with LeatherLykes?

What backrest/sissy bar is on your bike Txgaboy?

I have the leatherlyke bags also with the deluxe backrest and agree with what Wayne said 100%.  They are the best buy for your money.

Dwayne, I have the Cobra backrest on mine and you don't need the bracket.

Pat, I thought you had the Cobra setup.  Wanted to make certain that it was Cobra.  Think that is the way I need to go.  Where did you get yours?

I have the Honda Sissy Bar and luggage rack that mount with the Leaterlyke bolts.  I have the Ultimate Big Boy coming and they think I may need 1/4" spacers for the bags.  We'll see when I put the seat on.  I love the bags and can get a lot in them.

Yeah, been trying that for a while. ;D
However, with the Mrs. joining me for the LSR, she has insisted on bags.  Says riding around with a backpack and 4 days of clothing for 2 might be a bit uncomfortable!

Bought the sissybar and luggage rack from HDL and the bags from a member on the National board.

I have the Honda Deluxe also.  It does not have the look I'd like (the bags being further out from the bike)  but I can't find a set of bags that are as versatile as Leatherlyke.  Joe

Myself and my brotherinlaw have the leatherlykes....Mine are on the 1300r and his are on a 1800r.. I do know his came with a special bracket and it was black.. Mine mounted right up to the bike... they are the best for your money and do provide alot of room inside them and the lock gives you a little more sense of security then the buckle ones do...All in all great bags... I saw a set of bags that hang over, "tie down" for $100.00.  They have silver stunds around broader look pretty cool but I have seen better, but what they were I not sure, but one thing they were a lot more $.
