oops.  guess I better study up on posting a pic.  Just got back on the board, and "attachment" didn't work.  I'll study up, and post the pic later.

Got it!!  See original post.  Not sure why it didn't show up the first time.  Did the same thing, just went via "modify post" this time.

Snake...you're too good pardner.
Story behind this one..........A friend of mine who hadn't ridden in about 17 years wanted me to help him find a good bike because he and his wife want to take trips with Mrs Snakebite and me.  He had been looking at Dallas and surrounding area dealerships for used bikes, and they were trying to bend him over.
I told him to come over and we would get on line, locate some possibilities, and go look at them together so he didn't get burned.  We found this one, and 2 others in a few minutes.  I knew this bike looked familiar in the pics, but didn't put it together until we walked up on it at this shop in south Dallas.  My friend liked it, and was going to buy it, but he wanted to look at the others before making his decision.  Tapper had put it on Craig's list, and that shop had picked it up off Craig's list.
My friend worked a deal, but told the guy he was going to look at the others first.  I told the guy that if my friend didn't buy Tapper's bike I would for the same deal he had made, so the bike was sold no matter what.
My friend bought another very nice 1800, and I went back and picked up "Tapper".  I told Tapper I would hold it for up to a year for him if he thought he might want it back (seller's regret), but Tapper said not to do that because he might just start another project.  So, the Tapper has a place in my garage right now.  Still a beautiful, strong running ride, and I'm proud to own it along with the other VTX's I have.

I knew you would recognize it fairly quickly.  I miss seeing Tapper on here and the Vtxoa board.  He's a pretty fart smeller.
It made me feel a little bad when I first saw the bike at that shop.  They had it out with other bikes in the dirt enclosed in chain link fence.  It had a lot of dust on it, and it had rained, so you can imagine.  The owner of the shop is just a mover of bikes, not a rider and he just wanted his money.  He said, "I just want it out of here.  I'm getting too many calls on it."
It needed a good detailing to make it look like the Tapper bike of old.  I've changed the fluids, and cleaned it up, and it now has a good home.

Well, the tapper bike didn't stay around my house very long.  My oldest son came up from Houston, and asked what I was going to do with it.  i told him another friend of mine wanted first shot at it if I sold it, and he said "bs. that bike is staying in the family."  He took it home last weekend, so it looks like the "Tapper" is in our family until she can't go anymore.

I have always loved that bike.  Last time I saw it was at Johnny Cheese's when Tapper and Pete was doing a spark plug test on the Dyno.  That was years ago before the truck backed over it.  :cuss:  Let me know if you decide to part with it.   :c

So does this mean that your son will be frequenting our get-togethers down here in H-Town?  I remember meeting Tapper and Pete at JC's place...both were fun to talk with.  Pete had his bike up on CL years ago, but I don't know if it sold or not.  Between the two, I liked Pete's bike better...but they were both pretty sweet!
