Got there Thursday afternoon, stopping at all the Wineries, rode with Bluestreak. Got a nice buzz on the way, set up giagantic tent, went to meet and greet all was good.
Went to bed and storm blew in, tent came crashing down, rained had no top, was not expecting rain, spent a good part of the night in the bathroom to stay dry. Not a minute of sleep, daybreak came, I packed up and made a b-line for my bed, tent never again. :cuss: :banghead: :cuss: :banghead: Home by 1PM Friday  :bikerider: :couch:

Gumbo
Glad to hear you made it home after staying up all night.  I was worried you were headed home after not getting any sleep..............especially after the wineries we hit on the way up Thursday.  :couch:    That was fun.  Will do that again.

Rode the Three Sisters Friday with a good group.  Good times.  Thanks for leading Chad. :bikerider:
We passed two bike crashes that day on Hwy 336. We had to wait for Life Flight to land at one of the accident scenes.  As the chopper approached touchdown, he crossed the road twenty yards in front of us at tree top level and flushed a bunch of deer across the road. It looked like they might run into the ambulance that was on the scene when they scattered across the road in a panic.  :ohwow:

After leaving the scene, we could see where the rider went down.  It was a 20mph off camber down hill turn with a rock wall on the outside of the turn.  He scared the asphalt pretty good before meeting the wall.  Plenty of scar marks at the apex of that turn.   :banghead:    About four miles ahead of the accident scene is a sign stating six riders have died on that road this year.

A few miles down the road we came across the second wreck.............in the middle of a semi-blind turn!  :ohwow:  No one was flagging on comming traffic.  The "brilliant" on scene sherriff was in the middle of the turn trying wave us down from speed. Good thing we weren't blasting.  Could have been another pile up.  :ohwow:

Accident scene protocol states the first thing you should do is secure the scene.  If there's enough people present (and there were plenty standing around watching), you should get people stationed far enough up stream and down stream of the accident scene in order to warn on comming traffic.
This dooooffus cop was allowing traffic to enter the blind turn before trying to slow them down.   :banghead:   :banghead:   :banghead:

so sad, I think one of those ten was Gabe's friend. Last weekend my group witnessed a pickup hit the guard rail just west of Comfort,Tx. If he woulda crossed the center line rather than hitting the ditch, I mighta been riding Heavens Highway. We had to stand guard and direct traffic till the cops got there. Driver had a lap full of meds and was impaired.

DAMN, Gumbo. :cantbelieve: Remind me not to camp out with you. I used to camp out a lot in the Army. Nowadays, I camp out in the Comfort Inn.

Well, at least you had a good time with the wine.  :good:
