Bay Area rally?????
« on: February 12, 2009, 12:59:10 PM »

I saw there was a rally in the bay area off of nasa rd 1 last year.  I actually was able to see a website and all, but it seems to have gone to nothing.  Did anyone go or rememer about this?  how was it?  I can imagine since there isn't anything about this year, it didn't do to well.

I didn't go, but everything I heard from various riders is that it was not worth the time or money.

I attended that rally to help a buddy of mine who had a vendor booth there.  The rally was very poorly publicized and ended up as a disaster.  For the first two days, they charged motorcycles for parking, and the admission fee was fairly steep (I don't remember exactly how much it was).  By the last day, they had eliminated the parking fee and dropped the admission price drastically because the attendance was so bad.  They had attracted quite few vendors, but the vendors ended up so upset and disappointed, that most of them vowed that they would not return the next year.  If they even try to put it on again this year, I'd advise you to save your money and not go.

I went to the rally on Saturday of the event last year. They did not charge for parking, but the entry fee was $20. There was very little going on. There was a music stage, but only about 5 of us watching the band. The only reason we watched the band was because there was nothing else to do. We just missed the riding exhibition by Law Enforcement officers. That probably would have been interesting, but the rest of the rally was dead. It' not the only $20 i've wasted in my life, but it was the biggest waste of $20. And other than the ride down there and back, it wasted 2 hours of my life.
The $20 admission fee did give you entry into another event down the road at some park. I think it was a crawfish party or something.

We drove by the park, looked in at all the cars and decided to ride. I believe the $20 admission fee also allowed to enter the Space Center.
