« on: January 08, 2012, 09:48:03 PM »

Does anybody do powder coating or know of a good place around Houston area? Want to get lower fork tube, both brake calipers and final drive housing and possibly the engine (if i dont have to pull it out) all done in black.

Unless there is a "new and improved" way to powdercoat...the standard for powdercoating has been to bake the powdercoated item at a temp of 200 and up.  I think that would reguire the motor coming off.  SSSsssnake

Since you are only doing relatively small parts, you may want to try it yourself.
I know Harbor Freight sells a powder coating set-up that is inexpensive.

Read the reviews.  Most are very positive.

I have heard of people doing their own small parts and curing them in a household oven.

Looks like I'll just have to pay someone to do it for me. Mentioned buying the stuff to do it myself and got my but chewed. But somehow it's quite all rite for her to spend $1700 on granit counter tops. Women

Painting the motor can be done with it still in/on the bike.  Many of us 1300 owners have done this, and it holds up very well over time.  I still have people willing to pay me to do their 1300s, but I haven't taken anyone's money..........................yet!   ;D
